Velvet is a fine metallic-suspension paint applied with a brush and a soft trowel, worked in crossing strokes so the surface gathers light the way velvet fabric does. Move past it and the wall appears to breathe, lighter in one direction, deeper in the other.
To the hand it is smooth and warm rather than cold and mineral. To the eye it reads as textile, which is why it works so beautifully in bedrooms, dressing rooms and dining rooms where the interior should feel enveloping rather than architectural.
The effect is strongest under lamplight and wall washers. In daylight it settles into a quiet, softly clouded colour, so the room changes character between morning and evening.
Colours are mixed bespoke, from oyster and champagne through to deep ink, moss and burgundy, with the sheen dialled up or down to suit the scheme.
Every project begins with a design consultation where we explore colour, texture and light.
